Josh Duhamel and ARC Press Release 1 23 2010.pdf
Actor, Josh Duhamel, has joined forces with American Red Cross of Santa Monica to come to the aid of Haiti victims.
On January 12, Haiti experienced an earthquake so forceful that the country has been left with nothing but hope. After seeing the images of the millions of people displaced and the thousands dead, Josh wanted to do something to contribute to the relief efforts. Although physically travelling to Haiti was nearly impossible, he still wanted to physically respond to the devastation. Josh contacted his friend and personal trainer, Don Brooks of Don-A-Matrix Training, to discuss what they could do to make a difference. Committed to health and fitness, Josh wanted to use youth fitness as a vehicle to raise monies for the Haitian earthquake relief.
Aligned with his advocacy in adolescent diabetes and his passion around youth, Josh has called on all youth and teens to help-"A Life Can Be Saved, One Run at a Time!" Young people around the globe have expressed their heartfelt requests to help in some way. They want to show their deepest compassion for the people of Haiti by helping in any way they can. These youth feel just as Josh does about making a difference.
Pulling together youth and teens from LA and from around the world, Josh has teamed up with American Red Cross of Santa Monica to host “Youth Run 4 Haiti.” He describes this relief effort as a “Movement.” This is a movement of youth and teens from everywhere coming together to run for a cause and to demonstrate the power of youth. The emergency response 2 mile run will bring out thousands of youth and teens who have been empowered to come to the aid of Haiti.
“Youth Run 4 Haiti,” is not your typical run. It is a run for hope. It is a race against time.
Through this run and movement, lives will be saved.
